Residents and Families Gather for Thanksgiving at Our Lady of Fatima Villa

A large crowd of residents, families and staff gathered to enjoy a Thanksgiving Feast created by Chef Jose Duenas and his culinary staff.  It was wonderful to see grandchildren, children, Sisters, brothers and neighbors gather to enjoy fellowship, good food, and even wine.  We are reminded how important it is to count our blessings each and every day.

St. Rose Awarded Coveted Good Housekeeping Honor

Every month Our Lady of Fatima Villa hosts a friendly internal competition among our staff to see which of our care units wins the Good Housekeeping Award.  This is a highly competitive contest...previously called Curb Appeal.  We decided to rename the award because it is based on cleanliness, attention to details and making our residents feel as though they enjoy some of the little extras that are normally found at home.  That might mean seasonal decorations, extra smiles, whatever it means to go the extra mile.  Congraulations to the team from St. Rose, this month's winner!

Halloween Open House a Hit with Kids of All Ages!

The third annual Fatima Villa Halloween Open House was a success for young and old.  The children were decked out in costumes, as were the staff and parents!  Magician Kim Sullivan performed tricks that boggled the minds of all!  Thank you to the Saratoga Interact Club for their help on the event.  Please plan to join us again next year for our Halloween Trick or Treat Open House!

Tea with CEO Bella shows off what great sports our resident are!

Every month, President and CEO Bella Mahoney hosts a "Tea with Bella".  The purpose is multi-fold; to socialize, share stories and experiences and to give our residents a chance to interact with our CEO.  Bella encourages residents to ask questions and share opinions, share concerns they might have and to share their ideas on their home. " The Teas have been a terrific success," says Mahoney.  "Many residents have come up to me and told me that they appreciate the time to share while enjoyiing the tradition of afternoon tea."

Richard Straw -- a Rehabilitation Success Story -- Cuts Ribbon for New Therapy Equipment

Richard Straw and his wife Barbara were the VIPs (Villa's Important Persons) who officially cut the ribbon on Fatima Villa's latest Physical Therapy equipment-- a T5 Recumbant Bike.  The bike was purchased from a grant awarded Our Lady of Fatima Villa by the Saratoga Rotary Charitable Foundation.  Richard Straw was a perfect person to cut the ribbon -- he suffered a devastating fall.  After a stay at Our Lady of Fatima Villa and working with our Therapists, Richard was able to return home long before anyone expected.  He is our hero and shows what perserverance and patience can achieve.
