Our Lady of Fatima Villa is recognized as one of the Top Senior Care Facilities in the US, and our staff is one of the top reasons for the recognition. We honored them at our annual Employees Christmas party. Good food, great music, fellowship and gifts made for a happy and festive occasion!

Every year, our staff looks forward to the now-famous gift raffle. This year, thanks to our vendors, we were able to give raffle prizes to more of our deserving staff! Thanks to all who conributed!
Our Lady of Fatima Villa is a valued resource for the greater Saratoga Community. An example is tonight's Book Enthusiast's gathering -- a group of Saratoga Rotarians who enjoy reading and discussing books. Tonight's meeting will feature two book; "Boys in the Boat", and "The Circle". Both books are best sellers and thought provoking reads. Chef Jose Duenas is providing appetizers and beverages for the group!
The annual Christmas Lunch with Bella had an extra bit of jingling this year as the Saratoga Rotary Club led the group in Christmas carols. An extra special visitor -- Santa Claus himself! It was a fun and festive holiday occasion!
Our Lady of Fatima Villa is a faith-based, not-for-profit organization. We have two Boards of Directors: 1) Our Lady of Fatima Villa Board of Directors, and 2) Our Lady of Fatima Foundation Board of Directors. Over our 65-year history, we have been fortunate to have an outstanding group of community and business leaders serve on our Boards. Each year, we honor those who have served, or are currently serving, on our Board. This year's dinner was once again, a happy occasion for all. Over 100 attended the festive event. Nine inches of rain and high winds have taken a toll on the Village of Saratoga and most of Northern California this week. Our Lady of Fatima Villa was prepared.
Northern California is in the midst of a powerful storm with rain falling at the rate of one inch an hour and winds up to 70 miles per hour. A Flash Flood watch has been issued for an area, including Saratoga. Our staff has been preparing for the storm: cleaning gutters, clearing storm drains,and stocking up on flashlights and batteries. Our facility has back up generators. We also have lovely fireplaces to sit in front of during a storm! We are ready.
Everyone is talking about the Big Storm due in tonight. Our Lady of Fatima Villa is prepared to deal with what Mother Nature deals out! There is talk of 60-80 mile per hour winds and rain of over 9 inches. This is certainly the worst storm to hit Northern California in years. Downed trees are always a concern for us and frustratingly out of our control. But things that are in our control, we have taken care of in preparation. It was only a few weeks ago that staff participated in the CERTS training. Always good to be as ready as you can be!

Marites Madriaga, RN, BSN, is our new Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON). Marites is not new to Our Lady of Fatima Villa. She has worked with us in the past as part time MDS Coordinator. Marites has the education, training and experiece necessay to help Audrey Alm, our DON, in overseeing our Skilled Nursing as well as an extra guide and mentor to our clinical staff.
