It's going to be a lot of fun and you and your family can join us on Saturday, June 27th for our Pampered Pig Stampede. Our pigs are pampered, in fact, they are spoiled! They travel in their own heated and air-conditioned trailer and their favorite snack is chocolate chip cookies. The Pampered Pig Stampede will start at 11am and there will be tractor pulls -- the kids can drive their own mini-tractors! And the pigs promise to put on quite a show!

Springtime in the Valley of the Hearts Delight is wonderful -- fragrant with mild temperatures and a happy feeling pervades. Our residents were able to enjoy te sights, smells and sounds of the season when a jazz ensemble performed in our courtyard. We saw many toes tapping and smiles on faces as familiar tunes were played. Our Lady of Fatima Villa is a certified Music and Memory facility and we realize and appreciate the importance of music to all our of residents. It was a wonderful afternoon.

Vicki Lefler and Pam Steele presented the Music and Memory Program to members of the Saratoga Rotary Club on Friday, March 20th. They thanked the Club for a grant to fund the program and asked for volunteers from the Club to join the program. "The response was wonderful", said Vicki Lefler, Volunteer Coordinator for the Program. "We have people who have signed up to work one on one wih residents, also to download music to be used and some people want to train teens to work with the residents. Partnering with a service group like Rotary is a wonderful relationship builder," she said.

Our Lady of Fatima Villa is a community resource -- we provide care for local seniors, rehabilitation patients -- and we often host community events and groups. On Thursday, March 19, we hosted 12 members of the Saratoga Rotary Book Enthusiasts. The group meets monthly at Fatima Villa and enjoys lively discussions and deliclious snacks provided by Chef Jose Duenas. The group thanks the staff of OUr Lady of Fatima Villa for welcoming the group to the first floor living room.

Mark your calendars for June 27th! You are invited to join us for a first-of-a-kind event in Saratoga -- the Pampered Pig Stampede and The Pampered Royal Pig Derby. The Stampede is a family event that will include tractor pulls and a pig race! The Royal Pig Derby is a black-tie optional evening event that will also feature a pig race. Our Lady of Fatima Villa is proud to announce the addition of nurses to the Skilled Nursing Staff; Eduardo Diaz, CNA; Mercedita Diaz, CNA; Tanya Garbo, RN; and Patricia Reyes, CNA. These skilled professional care givers are a welcome addition to the extended family of Our Lady of Fatima Villa.

The Staff at Our Lady of Fatima Villa takes great pride in keeping the facility clean -- and cheerful. Each month Teams from each of our units compete for the coveted "Good Housekeeping Award". This month, once again, the Team from St. Dominic took home the award. Congratulation to the entire Team, led by Charge Nurse Viktor Lipunov!

Our Lady of Fatima Villa hosted senior living constituents for a Leading Age meeting on March 4. Leading Age is an association of 6,000 not-for-profit organizations dedicated to making America a better place to grow old.

We are an extended family here at Our Lady of Fatima Villa. Two of our staff members -- Suja Steven, RN and Rosalyn De Jesus, LVN are expecting...so it was an easy decision to give them a joint Baby Shower. Great food (including eggs, of course), gifts and fellowship were shared. Both babies are due in April and both are baby girls. They received many gifts from both managers and line staff! We wish the new mothers all the best and look forward to their return!

All faiths and all ethnicities are welcome at Our Lady of Fatima Villa. Residents celebrated the Lunar New Year with a Chinese-themed dinner complete with decorations! It is the Year of the Ram. We wish everyone a Happy New Year, however and whenever it is celebrated!
